Activision : CALL of DUTY - Warzone announces Call of Duty for Mobile

Call of Duty: Warzone is Activision’s answer to the popularity of games like PUBG, Fortnite, and Apex Legends. The free-to-play battle royale game supports not only cross-platform multiplayer but cross-game multiplayer as well, connecting Call of Duty: Vanguard, Black Ops: Cold War, and the 2019 reboot of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

Now, Activision’s confirmed what many already suspected, officially announcing Call of Duty: Warzone for mobile. The publisher’s yet to announce a release date, but Activision is actively hiring developers and product managers with experience designing mobile games.

Activision hasn't said if the game would be similar to Apex Legends Mobile, which only allows you to play against other mobile players, or the mobile edition of Fortnite, which allows you to play against other mobile players. Activision did not respond to a request for further information. According to Sensor Tower, Activision's Call of Duty: Mobile, which was developed in collaboration with Tencent-owned Timi Studios, has achieved an incredible $1.5 billion in worldwide lifetime player expenditure since its 2019 launch.

Activision could be hoping to make lightning strike again with a mobile Warzone. The firm will be using the already successful Warzone property, and other mobile shooters like PUBG: Mobile and Garena Free Fire are among the most popular mobile games available, so there's a chance for another hit. With mobile versions of titles like Riot Games' Valorant and EA's Battlefield on the road, a mobile Warzone will be in a crowded field.

Call of Duty: Warzone is out now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and mobile versions in development.
