Kathmandu. Russian hackers have been responsible for 74 percent of the money raised from the ransomware attack. A study by the cybersecurity firm Chanalysis found that a large part of the money collected from the 2021 Ryansamware attack was in the hands of Russian hackers.
According to the study, Russian hackers accounted for most of the total ransomware attacks in the world in 2021. However, they also have more cryptocurrency received as ransom. Last year alone, Russian hackers reportedly received 400 million in cryptocurrency payments.
The Russian government has denied the allegations in a statement issued Friday stating "Similar, baseless allegations concerning Russia's intelligence have been made more than once. Russia has long been criticized in the West for providing protection to hackers. However, the Russian government has said that cybercriminals have no protection.
