The new application for driver's license (smart license) will be open after Dashain.
The Department of Transport Management had been preparing to open the application since the first week of September. Director General of the Department, Namaraj Ghimire, informed that the state government is preparing to open it after Dashain due to lack of preparation.
The new application was closed from last baisakh 16. In the meantime, experimental examinations were conducted regularly. Before the Corona epidemic, the number of people applying for new licenses was 8,000 a day. The department estimates that the demand for licenses will increase when applications are closed for a long time.
Seven lakh copies of license are yet to be printed in the department. Seven lakh service recipients have been waiting for licenses for about a year and a half. Printing has stopped due to lack of card.
He said, “It takes at least a month for the card to arrive. Delivery order has been placed. It will come by Tihar. Only then will the printing work be done. ”
According to him, 1.4 million copies of the card are being brought from France. After the implementation of smart license in 2072 BS, printing work has been left.
Meanwhile, the department has stated that information is being published in the Gazette to make embossed number plate mandatory on vehicles. The department has stated that the information has been sent to the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport and the initiative will be taken to publish it in the Gazette after the new minister is appointed.
Embossed number plate has been implemented to keep the details of the vehicle in digital system. Even though it was regularized from 1 shrawan 2077, it is to be made mandatory as the number of people coming to keep the number plate is less.null
